Protocol Education is seeking a dedicated SEN assistant to join a lovely school in Hackney starting in September 2024.

You will be required to work from 8:45 - 3:45, every day during term time.

This role is due to run until July 2025 but there is potential for the best candidates, you will then be offered a permanent role at the school.

Our partner school prides itself on their SEND offering and are looking for someone who can contribute effectively to its continued success.

Your role will be working closely with several children with SEN, Predominantly children with ASD.

You will likely be working with 1 child in the morning and a another child in the afternoon.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide high-quality support and assistance to the SEN Support team in delivering engaging and effective teaching and learning experiences.
  • Support the implementation of age-appropriate activities and lessons that promote children's cognitive, physical, and social development.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment, ensuring the well-being and safety of all children under your care.
  • Assist in assessing children's progress, documenting observations, and maintaining accurate records.
  • Collaborate with teachers and other professionals to create individualized learning plans and strategies for children with diverse needs.
  • Promote positive behavior management techniques and encourage children's independence and self-esteem.
  • Establish effective communication channels with parents, providing regular updates on children's progress and addressing any concerns or queries.
  • Contribute to the overall development and enhancement of the Early Years curriculum through active participation in team meetings and training sessions.

Requirements:

  • Sound understanding of child development theories and best practices in early childhood education.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive relationships with children, parents, and colleagues.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • A genuine passion for working with young children and a commitment to providing high-quality care and education.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection policies and procedures.
  • Proactive, enthusiastic, and a team player.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
