About the Role

We’re looking for a dedicated SEND Teacher to join a welcoming mainstream secondary school in Newcastle. The role involves working with pupils who have a range of additional learning needs, including autism, ADHD, and social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) challenges.

You’ll play a vital role in adapting lessons, supporting classroom engagement, and helping every student reach their potential within a mainstream setting. The school has a strong culture of inclusion and collaboration, with excellent leadership support and access to high-quality resources.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver differentiated lessons that meet the needs of pupils with SEND

  • Create an inclusive classroom environment that promotes confidence and independence

  • Implement and review individual education plans (EHCP targets where relevant)

  • Work closely with teaching assistants, the SENCO, and pastoral staff to ensure consistent support

  • Monitor and track pupil progress, adjusting approaches where necessary

What We’re Looking For

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent

  • Experience teaching pupils with additional learning needs within a secondary setting

  • Strong behaviour management skills and a calm, supportive approach

  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills

  • A genuine passion for inclusive education and improving outcomes for every learner
