SEND Teacher (Autism Specialist)

£120–£220 per day (PAYE)
Are you an experienced teacher who loves creating calm, engaging classrooms where every child can thrive?
We’re working with a specialist school in Sunderland that provides high-quality education and support for children and young people with autism and additional learning needs. They’re looking for a dedicated SEND Teacher to join their welcoming, multi-disciplinary team.
What you’ll be doing:

Teaching small groups of pupils aged 7–19 with autism and communication differences

Planning creative, differentiated lessons that build confidence and independence

Working closely with teaching assistants, therapists, and support staff to ensure every pupil’s EHCP needs are met

Creating a nurturing environment where progress is measured in smiles as well as steps
What we’re looking for:

QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) or QTLS
-
Experience teaching pupils with ASD, SEMH, or complex learning needs
-
A flexible, patient, and positive approach to teaching and learning

Confidence using visual supports, sensory regulation strategies, or TEACCH-style approaches
