Protocol education are currently recruiting primary teaching assistants to work in an outstanding special needs school in Merton to start ASAP. This outstanding special needs school are currently recruiting teaching assistants with or without experience who are comfortable working with special needs, but more importantly people who enjoy working with children and assisting with the learning and social development. This particular school provide tailored curriculum to primary students with special needs that include autism, speech & language difficulties, physical disabilities and complex needs. As a teaching assistant you will be supporting students in lessons such as music, interactive stories, art, P.E, swimming, cooking, sensory play, outdoor activities. You will be required to work as part of a team, support  students on a one to basis, differentiate work to help students understand the task and manage sensory difficulties. This role is a long term role working Monday to Friday. 

The role: 

  • Working Monday to Thursday - 08:30 - 15:45 & Friday 8:30 - 15:30
  • Working with primary students from 5 - 11 years old
  • Supporting students with special needs such as autism, speech and language difficulties, physical disabilities and complex needs
  • Working one to one with students, focusing on social skills, numeracy & literacy 
  • Developing communication & speech & language through visual resources
  • Working in a small class from 6 - 8 students per class
  • Supporting the class teacher and working as a team

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
