Contract: Full-time, long-term , Short-term, Day to day
Start: ASAP
Location: Tower Hamlets, East London

Love supporting young people who need a bit of extra encouragement to find their feet in school? This secondary school in Tower Hamlets is looking for a confident SEN Teaching Assistant who can be that steady, positive force in the classroom.

The role

You’ll be working with students who have a mix of additional needs, from autism and ADHD to social, emotional, and mental health needs. No two days will look the same, but you’ll be part of a supportive team who really value their TAs.

Your day might include:

  • Supporting students in lessons across subjects

  • Helping young people stay focused and confident

  • Breaking down tasks so learning feels manageable

  • Supporting emotional regulation during busy moments

  • Encouraging independence and celebrating progress

  • Working closely with teachers, SENCO, and pastoral teams

What the school is looking for

Secondary experience is handy but not essential. What matters most is your attitude: calm, consistent, and encouraging. Someone who understands teenagers and doesn’t take a bit of teenage attitude personally.

You’ll be a great fit if:

  • You build rapport easily and earn trust quickly

  • You can adapt your approach for different learners

  • You stay patient when things get lively

  • You genuinely enjoy supporting young people to succeed

Why this school?

It’s a diverse, welcoming secondary that really invests in its inclusion team. Staff describe it as a place where TAs are listened to, and students feel understood instead of judged. You’ll be joining a team that works together, not alone.
