At Protocol Education we are looking for a supportive specialist Teaching Assistant to support students with social, emotional and mental health needs in specialist schools across Gateshead.  If you’re the kind of person who spots the small wins, celebrates every bit of progress and brings positivity even on the tough days, this role will suit you perfectly!

What you’ll be doing as a SEN Teaching Assistant 

  • Supporting pupils with a range of additional needs, including autism, ADHD, SEMH or speech and language
  • Working 1:1 or in small groups to help pupils access their learning
  • Following personalised support plans with guidance from the SENCO
  • Creating a safe, structured and reassuring environment
  • Building trust with pupils who rely on consistent, steady adults

Requirements qualifications as a SEN Teaching Assistant 

  • Experience supporting children with SEN
  • A nurturing approach and a calm communication style
  • Confidence working closely with teachers, therapists and pastoral staff
  • Flexibility and the ability to adapt to individual pupil needs
  • A genuine passion to support children

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
