SEN Teaching Assistant – SEMH Specialist School
Location: Hackney
Pay: £90 to £95 per day
Contract: Day-to-day cover, immediate start

What you’ll be doing

Supporting pupils with social, emotional, and mental health needs

Helping young people regulate, reset, and re-engage with learning

Using trauma-informed, nurturing approaches and de-escalation strategies

Working closely with teachers, mentors, and pastoral teams

Modelling patience, clarity, and consistency throughout the day
You’re a great fit if you have

Experience in SEMH, PRU, youth work, mentoring, residential care, or behaviour support

A calm, grounded approach when situations escalate

The confidence to build trust slowly and respectfully
-
Strong communication skills and a down-to-earth, kind manner

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
