Role overview:
As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you’ll support pupils both individually and in small groups, helping them to access the curriculum and develop essential social and emotional skills. You’ll help students access learning, build independence and engage positively with their education, working closely with teachers and other support staff to implement tailored learning strategies that meet each child’s individual needs. You'll work closely with class teachers and support staff to deliver personalised learning strategies that helps pupils to engage with their education and to reach their full potential.
Key responsibilities:

Deliver tailored support to pupils with SEN, SEMH & PMLD

Support pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small groups, adapting to individual learning styles

Help children who communicate differently or need additional emotional or behavioural support to feel seen, heard and valued

Encourage focus, engagement and participation during lessons

Assist with the implementation of personalised learning plans and behaviour support strategies

Develop strong, trusting relationships with pupils, staff and parents
Requirements:

Previous experience working with children or young people, experience within SEN settings is highly desirable but not essential

A calm, patient and understanding nature with a passion for supporting children with additional needs

Strong communication and listening skills

A background in child or adult care, youth work, education or similar support roles is highly desirable
