Location: Middlesbrough
Job Duties:

Provide 1:1 support to a secondary school student with Special Educational Needs and Social Emotional Mental Health (SEMH) needs in a specialist provision

Implement individualised education plans and behaviour management strategies tailored to secondary-age students
-
Assist in creating a supportive and inclusive learning environment appropriate for teenagers
-
Support students in developing social skills, emotional regulation, and resilience
-
Manage challenging behaviour effectively and de-escalate situations when necessary
-
Collaborate with teachers, SENCO, pastoral staff, and other professionals to ensure the holistic development of students
Required Qualifications:
-
Experience working with secondary school-aged children or young people with SEMH needs and challenging behaviour

Knowledge of SEND Code of Practice and safeguarding procedures
Education, Experience, Knowledge and Skills:
-
GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths
-
Previous experience in a similar role within a secondary educational setting
-
Understanding of SEMH needs and effective strategies to support secondary school students
-
Strong communication and interpersonal skills suitable for working with teenagers
-
Ability to remain calm under pressure and respond to challenging situations
Working Conditions:

Work primarily within a secondary school setting
-
Full-time hours with occasional flexibility required

Regular interaction with secondary school students, teachers, pastoral teams, and other educational professionals

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
