Job Duties:

  • Supporting students with special educational needs (SEN) in their learning and development
  • Assisting the class teacher in planning and delivering tailored lessons
  • Providing one-to-one support to students as needed
  • Helping students with personal care tasks if required
  • Assisting with the management of classroom behaviour
  • Supporting students in accessing the curriculum and educational resources

Required Qualifications:

  • Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification
  • Experience working with students with SEN
  • Good understanding of safeguarding and child protection policies
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team

Education, Experience, Knowledge and Skills:

  • GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths
  • Prior experience in a similar role within an educational setting
  • Knowledge of different SEN conditions and strategies to support them
  • Ability to adapt teaching methods to meet individual student needs

Preferred Qualifications:

  • First Aid certification
  • Training in manual handling and personal care tasks
  • Additional courses in SEN education or related fields

Working Conditions:

  • Working hours may vary, including some evenings and weekends for school events
  • Regular interaction with students, teachers, and parents
  • Potential exposure to challenging behaviours or emotional situations
  • Physical tasks such as assisting with mobility and personal care

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
