We’re supporting a welcoming specialist school in the Gateshead area that’s looking for an SEN Teaching Assistant who brings patience, curiosity, and a calm presence to the classroom. If you’re someone who lights up when a pupil takes a small step forward, you’ll fit right in.

What you’ll be doing

  • Working closely with pupils with a range of needs including autism, ADHD, communication needs, and SEMH

  • Supporting learning in and out of the classroom in a way that feels structured and reassuring

  • Helping pupils with routines, sensory regulation, and social interaction

  • Teaming up with teachers, therapists, and support staff to keep things consistent and positive

  • Creating an environment where every pupil feels safe, heard, and ready to learn

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEND, or strong transferable skills

  • Calm, caring, and adaptable in busy moments

  • Someone who builds trust quickly and understands how important relationships are

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
