A specialist SEN school in Gateshead is looking for a dedicated Teaching Assistant who brings patience, calm energy, and genuine care to the classroom. This is a setting where every pupil’s progress is celebrated and where you’ll play a key role in helping them grow.
What you’ll be doing

Supporting children with a range of additional needs including autism, speech and language needs, sensory processing differences, and SEMH

Helping pupils manage their routines, transitions, and communication

Working closely with teachers and therapists to deliver consistent, structured support

Providing 1:1 and small group assistance when needed

Creating a warm, predictable environment that helps pupils feel confident and understood

Experience with SEND is great, but transferable skills from care, youth work, or coaching also translate well

Someone who brings patience, empathy, and a calm approach to busy or tricky moments

A team player who’s happy to muck in and support wherever needed

A good communicator who builds trust quickly with both pupils and staff

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
