We are seeking a caring, patient and proactive Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming school in Gateshead. The successful candidate will work closely with teaching staff to support learning, promote positive behaviour and help create a nurturing classroom environment for pupils of all abilities.
What You’ll Be Doing

Supporting pupils during lessons, group work and 1:1 activities

Helping children to stay focused, engaged and confident in their learning

Assisting with SEND support strategies under the guidance of teaching staff

Encouraging positive behaviour and emotional regulation

Preparing classroom resources and contributing to a well-organised learning environment

Working collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs and pastoral staff

Promoting the safeguarding and welfare of all pupils at all times
What We’re Looking For

A calm, supportive and patient approach

Experience working with children or young people (school-based or transferable)
-
An understanding of SEND, or a willingness to learn
-
Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships

Reliability, professionalism and a genuine passion for helping children succeed

A current DBS or willingness to apply for one

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
