SEN Teaching Assistant

Job Duties:

  • Provide support to students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) in the classroom.

  • Assist teachers in delivering individualised education plans (IEPs).

  • Help create a supportive, inclusive, and engaging learning environment.

  • Support students with personal care and emotional well-being.

  • Collaborate with teachers and parents to monitor and support student progress.

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum of GCSEs in English and Maths.

  • Relevant SEN qualifications or practical experience.

  • Level 2 or higher qualification in Teaching Assistance or Special Education.

Experience:

  • Prior experience working with children with SEN.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Understanding of diverse learning styles and needs.

  • Effective communication with students, teachers, and parents.

  • Strong organisational and time management skills.

  • Empathy, patience, and adaptability when supporting students with SEN.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • First Aid certification.

  • Mental Health First Aid training.

Working Conditions:

  • Work hours may vary depending on the school schedule.

  • Involves standing, walking, and actively assisting students throughout the day.

May include working with students who have challenging behaviours.
