Role overview:
As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you’ll support pupils both individually and in small groups, helping them to access the curriculum and develop essential social and emotional skills. You’ll help students access learning, build independence and engage positively with their education, working closely with teachers and other support staff to implement tailored learning strategies that meet each child’s individual needs. Working alongside teachers and support staff, you’ll help put personalised learning and behaviour strategies into practice so every child has the best chance to thrive.
Key responsibilities:
- Supporting pupils with SEN, SEMH and PMLD
- Adapting support to suit different learning styles and needs
- Helping children who communicate differently feel understood and valued
- Encouraging engagement, focus and confidence in the classroom
- Building positive relationships with pupils, staff and families
Requirements:
- Experience working with children or young people, SEN experience is a bonus, not a must
- A calm, patient and caring approach
- Strong communication and listening skills
- Backgrounds in care, youth work, education or support roles are very welcome
