Protocol Education is seeking a dedicated and passionate SEN Teaching Assistant to work in a vibrant and inclusive school environment. The successful candidate will work closely with the SENCO and classroom teachers to support students with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).

Job Responsibilities

The role of the SEN Teaching Assistant will include, but is not limited to:

  • Providing one-to-one and small group support to students with SEND in the classroom
  • Assisting with the planning and delivery of Educational Health Care Plans (EHCP)
  • Implementing strategies to support students with behavioural, social and emotional difficulties
  • Liaising with parents, teachers and other professionals to ensure the best possible support for students
  • Supporting students with personal care, if required

Essential Qualifications and Skills

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent
  • Experience of working with students with SEND, particularly those with Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADHD, and Speech and Language difficulties
  • Knowledge of SEND teaching strategies, interventions and resources
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • A patient, caring and positive attitude towards students with SEND

Desirable Qualifications and Skills

  • Experience of working with students with physical disabilities or medical needs
  • Experience of working in a primary or secondary school setting
  • Training in safeguarding and first aid

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
