SEN Teacher – Autism & Communication Needs

Location: Sunderland
Start: ASAP or after half-term
Contract: Full-time, long-term
Pay: £140 to £220 per day (PAYE)

We’re supporting a specialist Sunderland setting that provides calm routines, brilliant pastoral support, and a team who genuinely care about getting it right for every young person.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Teaching a class of KS3/KS4 pupils with autism and communication needs

  • Using structure, visuals, and purposeful routines to support understanding

  • Working closely with TAs, therapists, and senior staff

  • Creating a safe, predictable, and uplifting classroom environment

  • Celebrating the small wins that feel huge

What we’re looking for:

  • QTS or QTLS

  • Experience within SEND, or a real passion for it

  • A gentle, patient teaching style

  • Confidence adapting work to different communication levels

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
