SEN Teacher – PMLD School (East London)

The Role:

We are seeking a passionate and experienced SEN Teacher to join our dedicated team. You will be responsible for planning and delivering tailored lessons that meet the diverse needs of your pupils, using creative, engaging, and sensory approaches to learning. This is an incredibly rewarding opportunity for a teacher who is committed to inclusive education and has a deep understanding of complex SEND.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver personalised, EHCP-driven lessons for learners with PMLD and complex needs

  • Use a range of communication strategies such as Makaton, PECS, AAC, and intensive interaction

  • Lead a class team of TAs and work closely with therapists and other professionals

  • Create a positive, safe, and stimulating classroom environment

  • Assess and record pupil progress using appropriate tools and frameworks

  • Contribute to annual reviews and liaise with families and external agencies

  • Participate in staff development, training, and whole-school initiatives


The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS or QTLS)

  • Experience teaching pupils with PMLD, SLD, or complex learning needs

  • A thorough understanding of EHCPs and personalised learning approaches

  • Strong classroom management and the ability to lead and inspire a team

  • Excellent communication, creativity, and adaptability

  • A nurturing, patient, and resilient nature

  • A commitment to safeguarding and inclusive practice

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
