SEN Teacher – Autism Specialist

We’re working with a specialist setting in Sunderland that supports children and young people with autism and associated communication and learning needs. The school has a calm, nurturing approach, with small classes, strong teamwork, and a focus on helping each pupil reach their full potential.
They’re looking for a skilled and compassionate SEN Teacher to join the team full-time.
What you’ll be doing:

Teaching small groups of pupils with autism, tailoring lessons to their individual EHCP goals

Creating a structured, low-arousal classroom where pupils feel safe and confident to learn

Working closely with teaching assistants, therapists, and families to build strong support networks

Using creative, multi-sensory teaching approaches to engage and inspire learners
What we’re looking for:

QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) or QTLS
-
Experience supporting pupils with ASD, SEMH, or complex learning needs
-
Knowledge of autism strategies (TEACCH, PECS, sensory regulation, etc.)
-
A reflective, patient, and resilient teaching style
