Protocol Education - Seeking Passionate and Professional SEN Teacher in Sunderland

Position: SEN Teacher

We are currently recruiting for an inspirational SEN teacher to start in September 2024. This is a full-time, Monday to Friday position where you will have the opportunity to provide outstanding education to our students.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Student Engagement: Teach a class of 6-8 students, using individualised learning plans and preparing tailored lessons.
  • Policy Implementation: Follow school policies on learning and behaviour, as well as statutory guidelines related to special educational needs.
  • Student Motivation: Inspire students to learn, socialise, and become more independent by assisting with personal, physical, and medical needs.
  • Individualised Education Plans: Develop and implement bespoke education plans for students with complex autism and high sensory needs.
  • Assessment and Adaptation: Regularly assess student progress and adjust teaching strategies accordingly.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with families and other school staff to create a positive and supportive learning environment.
  • Direct Instruction: Provide individual and group instruction, offering guidance and support to each student.

Requirements:

  • Qualifications: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
  • DBS: A valid DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply for one.
  • References: At least two recent and satisfactory references.

Ideal Candidate:

  • Interest in SEN: A genuine interest in working with children who have SEN and a willingness to assist with personal care.
  • Experience: Previous experience working with students with complex autism and high sensory needs is highly desirable.
  • Skills: Strong knowledge of effective teaching strategies for students with complex autism and sensory needs, and the ability to manage challenging behaviour calmly and sensitively.
  • Passion: A deep passion for shaping the education of young children and the flexibility to adapt to individual student needs.
  • Commitment: A commitment to providing personalised instruction and brain breaks, with flexibility and dedication to the role.
  • Special Interests: An enthusiasm for working with SEND and/or SEMH students.

Role Details:

  • Schedule: Full-time, Monday to Friday.
  • Class Size: Work with a small group of 6-8 students.
  • Lesson Planning: Follow individualised learning plans and create bespoke lessons.
  • Policy Adherence: Implement school and statutory policies on SEN learning and behaviour.
  • Student Development: Support student learning, social skills, and promote independence.
  • Plan Implementation: Develop and implement individualised education plans for students with complex autism.
  • Progress Assessment: Assess student development and modify strategies as needed.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with families and staff to foster a supportive environment.
  • Instruction: Deliver direct instruction and support both individually and in group settings.
