Looking for a SEN teaching role where you can really get to know your pupils and make your classroom your own? This could be the one.

We’re working with a specialist SEN school in Sunderland who are looking for a committed, compassionate SEN Teacher to join their team full time. You’ll be teaching pupils aged 4–16 with a range of additional needs, and you’ll likely have full class responsibility, supported by experienced TAs and a hands-on leadership team.

The role

You’ll be:

  • Leading a small SEN class with pupils working at a range of developmental stages

  • Planning and delivering engaging, accessible lessons tailored to individual needs

  • Creating a calm, structured and safe learning environment

  • Working closely with support staff, SENCOs and therapists

  • Building strong relationships with pupils, helping them grow in confidence and independence

This is a role where consistency matters, so it’s ideal for someone who wants to be fully embedded in a school and see the impact of their work over time.

What we’re looking for

  • UK QTS (or equivalent)

  • Experience working with children with SEN, either in specialist or mainstream settings

  • A calm, patient and resilient approach

  • Confidence managing a class, with support around you

  • A genuine passion for SEN education
