Mainstream classroom. Additional needs. Big impact.
We’re looking for compassionate, confident SEN Support Assistants to join welcoming mainstream primary schools across Southwark.
These are full-time, long-term roles where you’ll support pupils with additional needs within a mainstream setting. That means you’re helping children stay in the classroom, stay engaged, and stay confident, right alongside their peers.
It’s real inclusion. And it matters.
What your day could look like:
-
Supporting pupils with autism, ADHD, SEMH, or speech and language needs
-
Working 1:1 or in small groups within the classroom
-
Helping children regulate emotions and manage transitions
-
Adapting tasks so learning feels achievable
-
Collaborating with teachers, SENCOs, and parents
You’ll be the steady presence that helps a child move from overwhelmed to okay. From unsure to proud. From “I can’t” to “I’ll try”.
We’re looking for someone who:
-
Has experience working with children with SEND, in schools or similar settings
-
Understands how to balance support with independence
-
Stays calm, patient, and consistent
-
Builds positive relationships quickly
-
Can commit to five days a week, long-term
If you’ve had training in autism support, de-escalation, or speech and language strategies, that’s a bonus. If not, and you’re eager to grow, we’ll help you get there.
What the school offers:
-
Inclusive ethos, where SEND support is valued
-
Supportive SLT and approachable SENCO
-
Clear behaviour systems and structured routines
-
Ongoing training opportunities
What you’ll get from Protocol Education:
-
Weekly PAYE pay, no umbrella companies
-
FREE access to our online CPD Academy
-
A dedicated consultant who genuinely listens
-
Opportunities in mainstream, SEND, and alternative settings
-
Streamlined registration and local placements
-
Referral scheme, earn rewards for referring friends
