SEN Progress Assistant – Entry-Level HLTA Pathway

Location: Bristol or North Somerset
Pay: £90 to £100 per day (PAYE)
Hours: 8.30am to 3.30pm, Monday to Friday
Experience: No experience needed, full training provided

A fantastic specialist SEN school in Bristol/North Somerset is offering a brilliant opportunity for someone looking to grow within the world of SEND education. You’ll join as a Progress Assistant, with full support to develop into HLTA-level responsibilities over time.

This role is ideal for someone who’s patient, enthusiastic, and keen to make a long-term difference. If you’ve ever thought about building a career in SEN, this is the perfect place to start.

What you’ll be doing

• Leading small-group sessions with pupils who need extra support
• Helping pupils develop communication, social skills, and confidence
• Supporting sensory programmes and emotional regulation activities
• Working closely with teachers, therapists, and specialist staff
• Encouraging independence and celebrating the small steps of progress
• Helping keep pupils engaged, safe, and supported throughout the day
• Contributing to a warm, positive, and inclusive team environment

Training & Development

You’ll receive:
• On-the-job coaching from experienced SEN teachers
• Guidance from the SENCO and therapy teams
• Opportunities to build towards HLTA-level responsibilities
• Regular CPD through Protocol Education’s online training hub

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
