Job Title: SEN HLTA – Full Time
Location: Birmingham
Reception to Year 2 | Outstanding Primary School
Start Date: ASAP
Contract: Full time, long term, with potential to go permanent
You’re not “just” support staff. You’re the calm in the busy moments. The steady voice. The one who spots what a child needs before anyone else does.
We’re working with an Outstanding primary school in Birmingham looking for a qualified SEN HLTA to support pupils across Reception to Year 2. This is a full-time, long-term role starting ASAP, with the potential to become permanent for the right person.
This school takes inclusion seriously. Early intervention matters here. The EYFS and KS1 teams work closely together, behaviour is well supported, and SLT are hands-on and approachable. You won’t be left to figure things out alone.
Your role will include:
-
Delivering targeted interventions across Reception, Year 1 and Year 2
-
Supporting pupils with additional needs, including ASD, ADHD and speech and language needs
-
Covering lessons when required
-
Working closely with the SENCO and class teachers to create structured, nurturing learning spaces
-
Supporting emotional regulation and positive behaviour strategies
What the school is looking for:
-
A recognised HLTA qualification, this is essential
-
Strong SEN experience within a primary setting
-
Confidence covering classes when needed
-
A calm, proactive and patient approach
-
Someone who genuinely believes every child can thrive
If you love early years and KS1, understand the power of routine and reassurance, and know how to turn tricky moments into breakthrough ones, this could be your next step.
