We’re working closely with a supportive school in Gateshead who are looking for a Behavioural Support Assistant to work with pupils who need help managing emotions, behaviour and engagement in the classroom. This role is all about consistency, trust and helping pupils feel safe enough to learn.
It’s not always easy, but it’s incredibly rewarding.
Your role will include:

Supporting pupils with behavioural and emotional needs, 1:1 or in small groups

Helping pupils regulate emotions and develop positive coping strategies

Using calm, trauma-aware and restorative approaches
-
Working alongside teachers, SENCOs and pastoral staff

Building strong, respectful relationships that support long-term progress
This role could be a great fit if you:

Have experience working with children or young people with behavioural needs, in schools, care, youth work or similar settings

Are calm, patient and confident when situations feel challenging

Understand that behaviour is communication
