At Protocol Education we’re supporting a brilliant specialist school in Gateshead who are searching for a compassionat, genuinely brilliant 1:1 Support Assistant to work closely with a pupil who needs extra guidance through the school day.

This role is perfect if you love building trust, staying patient under pressure, and celebrating every small win. You’ll be joining a warm, supportive team who really value their support staff. No one’s invisible here, you’re very much part of the journey.

What you’ll be doing

  • Providing consistent 1:1 support to a pupil with additional needs
  • Helping them access learning, routines, and social situations
  • Working closely with the SENCO and class teacher
  • Creating a safe, structured, and positive learning environment
  • Using calm, confident communication to build trust and independence

What we’re looking for

  • Experience supporting children or young people with SEND
  • A kind, nurturing approach and a steady presence
  • Someone who can stay positive, even on the trickier days
  • Great communication and the confidence to work as part of a wider support team
