We’re looking for a confident and caring SEMH Teaching Assistant to work across primary and secondary schools in Newcastle, supporting pupils with social, emotional, and mental health needs.

You’ll be helping students find calm, focus, and confidence — turning challenges into small wins and every day into a step forward.


What You’ll Be Doing

  • Supporting pupils with SEMH needs, helping them regulate emotions and stay engaged

  • Building strong, trusting relationships with students and staff

  • Assisting teachers in creating positive, structured learning environments

  • Encouraging independence, resilience, and progress in learning and behaviour

You’ll Be a Great Fit If You…

  • Have experience supporting young people with SEMH or additional needs

  • Can adapt across primary and secondary settings with confidence

  • Are patient, proactive, and calm under pressure

  • Drive and have access to your own transport (preferred but not essential)

  • Hold a degree or relevant experience in education, psychology, youth work, or similar

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
