Location: Sunderland
Contract: Full-time, Long-term
Start date: ASAP
Pay: £89–£120 per day

Some pupils need extra support to feel safe enough to learn — and that’s where you come in.
We’re recruiting a Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) Teaching Assistant to join a nurturing secondary setting that supports pupils with complex emotional and behavioural needs.

You’ll help pupils find their focus, rebuild confidence, and re-engage with education through patience, structure, and empathy.

Day-to-day, you’ll:

  • Support individual pupils and small groups with learning and behaviour goals

  • Help implement emotional regulation and de-escalation strategies

  • Encourage social skills and positive peer interaction

  • Work closely with teachers, counsellors, and pastoral staff

What you’ll bring:

  • Experience supporting pupils with SEMH, ASD, ADHD or trauma

  • A proactive, kind, and resilient attitude

  • Confidence in promoting positive relationships and boundaries

In return, we offer weekly PAYE pay, free access to Thrive and CPD training, and full support from your local consultant.

If you’re passionate about helping pupils rediscover the joy of learning — we’d love to hear from you.
