About the Role:
We are looking for a dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant to support students with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs in secondary schools across Newcastle. This is an excellent opportunity for someone passionate about making a real difference in students’ lives and supporting their learning and wellbeing.
Key Requirements:

Experience supporting students with SEMH or similar needs

Previous experience working in a secondary school environment

Strong interpersonal skills and patience

Ability to build positive, trusting relationships with young people

Confident in supporting classroom learning and individual interventions

Understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures
Role Expectations:

Support students with SEMH needs both inside and outside the classroom

Assist in planning and delivering learning activities tailored to individual needs

Help maintain a safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environment

Monitor and report on student progress, engagement, and behaviour

Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and other school staff

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
