About the Role:
We are looking for a dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant to support students with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs in secondary schools across Newcastle. This is an excellent opportunity for someone passionate about making a real difference in students’ lives and supporting their learning and wellbeing.

Key Requirements:

  • Experience supporting students with SEMH or similar needs

  • Previous experience working in a secondary school environment

  • Strong interpersonal skills and patience

  • Ability to build positive, trusting relationships with young people

  • Confident in supporting classroom learning and individual interventions

  • Understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures

Role Expectations:

  • Support students with SEMH needs both inside and outside the classroom

  • Assist in planning and delivering learning activities tailored to individual needs

  • Help maintain a safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environment

  • Monitor and report on student progress, engagement, and behaviour

  • Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and other school staff
