We are working in partnership with a supportive primary school in Harlow seeking a dedicated and resilient SEMH Teaching Assistant to support pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

This role is ideal for an experienced Teaching Assistant or support worker who is passionate about helping children overcome barriers to learning and develop positive behaviours in a nurturing, structured environment.

The Role:

  • Supporting pupils with SEMH needs on a 1:1 and small-group basis

  • Assisting with emotional regulation, behaviour management and engagement

  • Implementing behaviour support plans and positive intervention strategies

  • Supporting access to the curriculum within the classroom and alternative provisions

  • Working closely with the class teacher, SENCO and pastoral team

  • Providing consistency, encouragement and positive role modelling

  • Ensuring safeguarding and school policies are followed at all times

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • Experience supporting children with SEMH needs or challenging behaviour

  • A calm, patient and resilient approach

  • Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills

  • The ability to build positive, trusting relationships

  • An understanding of safeguarding and child protection

  • Team Teach or similar training is desirable but not essential

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
