Full-Time SEMH Teaching Assistant – Newcastle

Start September | Make a Lasting Impact

Some roles shape your career. This one could change lives.

We’re on the lookout for a full-time SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a forward-thinking specialist setting in Newcastle this September.

If you’re calm under pressure, great at building trust, and ready to support pupils who need a steady presence—you’ll feel right at home here.

What’s the school like?

This is a setting that gets SEMH. With structured routines, robust pastoral support, and a sports-led curriculum that really speaks to pupils, it’s a place where young people are supported to thrive—and where your input will truly count.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Supporting pupils with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health needs—both 1:1 and in small groups

  • Using positive behaviour strategies and trauma-informed approaches

  • Working closely with class teachers and SEN specialists

  • Being that calm, supportive presence that pupils can rely on, every single day

You’ll be a great fit if you:

  • Have experience in SEMH, PRU, SEND, or pastoral roles

  • Know how to build rapport quickly and stay calm under pressure

  • Are confident, resilient, and full of compassion

  • Can commit to a full-time role from September

Thrive trained? Brilliant. If not, we’ll cover the cost through Protocol Education—free of charge.

Why join Protocol Education?

  • Weekly PAYE pay – no umbrella company faff

  • A dedicated local consultant (yep, human and helpful)
