Do you have a steady manner, a kind approach and a genuine interest in supporting young people who find school challenging? Protocol Education is looking for an SEMH Teaching Assistant who can bring calm, connection and patience to pupils who need a bit more support to feel settled and successful in the classroom.
You don’t need years of experience. If you’ve worked with young people before, supported others through tough moments or studied something related to behaviour or wellbeing, that’s a great start. What matters most is your attitude, reliability and willingness to learn.
What you’ll be doing
-
Supporting pupils with social, emotional and mental health needs across the school day
-
Helping students regulate, refocus and rebuild confidence when things feel overwhelming
-
Offering a calm presence during lessons, breaks and transitions
-
Working closely with teachers, pastoral staff and behaviour leads to create consistent routines
-
Celebrating progress, encouraging small wins and helping pupils believe in themselves
-
Using clear, structured strategies to help pupils stay engaged and supported
Who we’d love to hear from
-
People with experience in youth work, mentoring, coaching, care or SEND support
-
Graduates or career changers interested in mental health, wellbeing or education
-
Calm, patient communicators who respond with empathy rather than pressure
-
Team players who enjoy being part of a supportive school community
-
Anyone who wants to build skills in behaviour support, SEN and pastoral care
What you’ll get from Protocol Education
-
Weekly PAYE pay, without umbrella deductions
-
Free access to our CPD Academy, including behaviour, SEMH and trauma-informed practice
-
A dedicated local consultant who listens, supports and finds the right fit for you
-
Opportunities across SEND schools, specialist provisions and mainstream settings
-
A friendly, streamlined registration process
-
Referral rewards for recommending brilliant people
