SEMH Learning Support Assistant in Sunderland

Protocol Education is seeking empathetic, supportive, and dedicated Learning Support Assistants (LSAs) with experience working with pupils who have Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. We are recruiting for LSAs to work in schools based in Sunderland, as well as surrounding areas.

According to recent statistics, 1 in 6 children aged 5-16 were identified as having a probable mental health problem in 2021. This highlights the growing need for specialized support within schools to help children thrive academically and emotionally.

If you have experience as a Teaching Assistant or a Learning Support Assistant and have supported children with SEMH needs or offered general classroom support, then please get in contact and apply!

The ideal candidate will have:

  • The ability to work well within a team
  • A passion for supporting children with SEMH needs
  • A patient and understanding approach
  • Availability to start as soon as possible
  • Prior Teaching Assistant experience

Role description:

  • Providing 1:1 support
  • Delivering engaging activities for pupils
  • Supporting pupils to achieve their emotional and social targets
  • Availability for at least 3 days per week
  • Working collaboratively with the class teacher

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
