SEMH Teaching Assistant – Bradford Primary Schools
Location: Bradford, West Yorkshire
Salary: £88–£115 per day (PAYE – no umbrella companies)
Contract: Full-time and part-time options

Do you have the patience, empathy, and resilience to make a real difference for children who need extra support? We’re looking for passionate Teaching Assistants to work with pupils who have social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs and challenging behaviour in Bradford’s primary schools.
Your role:

Provide 1:1 and small group support for children with SEMH needs

Help pupils regulate emotions and re-engage with learning
-
Build trusting relationships that encourage positive behaviour

Work closely with class teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals

Create a calm, safe space where pupils feel seen and supported
What we’re looking for:

Experience supporting children with SEMH, trauma, or behavioural needs (school or youth work background welcome)

Strong communication and de-escalation skills
-
A calm, consistent approach and a genuine commitment to inclusion

Resilience, empathy, and a good sense of humour when things get tough

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
