As a SEMH Support Worker, you will support pupils on a one-to-one basis or in small groups, working closely with pastoral teams and teachers to provide consistent and structured support throughout the school day.

We are seeking a SEMH Support Worker to work within secondary schools across Sunderland, supporting pupils with social, emotional, and mental health needs. This SEMH Support Worker role is focused on helping students remain engaged in education and develop positive strategies for managing school life.

Key responsibilities:

  • Supporting pupils with SEMH needs within lessons and specialist spaces
  • Helping students develop emotional awareness and self-regulation strategies
  • Supporting behaviour plans and individual support strategies
  • Contributing to a safe and supportive learning environment

Requirements:

  • Experience supporting young people with SEMH needs is preferred but not essential
  • A strong interest in pastoral, behaviour, or mental health support
  • Commitment to working within a professional school setting

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
