SEMH Support Assistant, Full Time, South Shields

A specialist SEMH and SEND school in South Shields is looking for a full-time SEMH Support Assistant who can bring calm, consistency, and a steady presence to pupils who need that bit of extra support to stay settled and engaged.

This is a setting that champions nurture and structure, giving pupils the emotional grounding they need to succeed. If you’re the kind of person who can stay positive even on the lively days, you’ll fit right in.

What you’ll be doing
• Supporting pupils with social, emotional, and mental health needs
• Helping pupils regulate emotions and manage behaviour
• Working 1:1 or in small groups using de-escalation strategies
• Building trusted relationships with pupils who thrive on predictability

What you’ll bring
• Experience with SEMH or challenging behaviour
• A calm, confident approach
• Strong communication and resilience
• Full-time availability

Pay: £89 to £110 per day

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
