SEMH Primary Teaching Assistant – Gateshead

If you’re the kind of person who can spot the tiny wins others miss, this SEMH role in Gateshead might be right up your street.

We’re supporting a specialist primary setting where pupils need calm adults who don’t give up easily. The team is warm, structured, and brilliant at helping children who’ve had a tricky start feel safe again.

In this role you’ll:
• Support pupils with social, emotional, and mental health needs
• Build trusting relationships over time
• Help children regulate, reset, and re-engage with learning
• Work closely with teachers, mentors, and therapists
• Use simple, consistent routines to help pupils feel grounded

You’ll be great at this if:
• You’ve worked with SEMH or challenging behaviour before
• You stay calm when emotions run high
• You understand that behaviour is communication
• You’re patient, resilient, and have a good sense of humour

What you get with us:
• Weekly PAYE pay
• Free access to our online CPD academy
• Support from a consultant who genuinely listens
• Opportunities to grow in SEND and SEMH settings
