SEMH & Behaviour Teaching Assistant – South Shields (Secondary)

We’re seeking a Teaching Assistant to support secondary pupils who have additional social, emotional and behavioural needs. Many of the pupils benefit from predictable routines, coaching through big emotions and having a steady adult they can rely on.
In this role you’ll:
• Support pupils with emotional regulation and behaviour plans
• Use restorative approaches and gentle de-escalation
• Help pupils stay focused and feel secure during lessons
• Work closely with the pastoral and SEN teams
• Encourage confidence, resilience and positive choices
You’ll need:
• Experience with SEMH, behaviour or trauma-informed practice
• A calm, consistent and supportive approach
• Strong relationship-building skills

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
