We’re supporting a welcoming school in Gateshead that’s looking for a 1:1 Behaviour Support Assistant to work closely with a pupil who needs extra guidance with their social, emotional and behavioural needs. The school has a supportive team, clear routines and a nurturing approach that helps pupils feel safe and ready to learn.
What you’ll be doing

Providing dedicated 1:1 support for a pupil with SEMH needs

Helping them manage emotions, stay focused and cope with challenging moments

Using consistent, positive behaviour strategies set by the SEN and pastoral teams

Offering calm reassurance during transitions and high-pressure points in the day

Encouraging positive communication, resilience and confidence

Working alongside teachers to maintain a structured, supportive environment

Experience in behaviour support, youth work, mentoring or care is helpful but not essential
