Job Description
This role requires a motivated and adaptable Secondary Teaching Assistant to support pupils within a secondary school setting. The position offers the opportunity to work closely with teaching staff and pupils, particularly those with special educational needs, to enhance learning experiences and promote positive educational outcomes. The role is temporary and full-time, based in Redcar, North Yorkshire.
Job Duties
- Support pupils with varying learning needs, including those with special educational needs, to access the curriculum effectively.
- Assist teaching staff in the preparation and delivery of lessons and educational activities.
- Provide individual or small group support to pupils to reinforce learning and encourage engagement.
- Help manage pupil behaviour in accordance with school policies to create a positive learning environment.
- Support the development of pupils’ social and emotional skills through appropriate interventions and encouragement.
- Monitor and record pupil progress, reporting observations to teaching staff and assisting in the assessment process.
- Assist with the organisation of classroom resources and materials.
- Promote inclusion and respect for diversity within the school community.
- Attend relevant meetings, training sessions, and contribute to the continuous professional development process.
Required Qualifications and Education
- Minimum of GCSEs at grade C/4 or above in English and Mathematics or equivalent qualifications.
- Relevant Level 2 or Level 3 qualification in supporting teaching and learning is desirable but not essential.
Experience
- Previous experience working within a secondary school environment is preferred.
- Experience supporting pupils with special educational needs is highly desirable.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
