Rate: £90–£110 per day

About the Role
We are seeking a resilient and adaptable Secondary Teacher to work within a specialist alternative education setting in Gateshead. This role supports pupils who require a more personalised approach to learning due to social, emotional and behavioural needs.
The setting provides a structured, supportive environment focused on re-engagement, confidence building and preparing pupils for their next steps. This role is ideal for teachers who value relationships, flexibility and making a meaningful impact.
Key Responsibilities

Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons tailored to individual needs.

Support pupils with SEMH and behavioural challenges.

Create a calm, consistent and positive learning environment.

Monitor and assess pupil progress and engagement.

Work collaboratively with teaching assistants and pastoral staff.

Promote pupils’ personal development and readiness for next steps.
Skills & Experience

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is essential.

Experience in alternative provision, PRU or SEMH settings is desirable.

Strong behaviour management and communication skills.

Calm, flexible and relationship-focused teaching style.

Resilient and reflective approach to practice.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
