The Role
As a Secondary SEND Teacher, you will be responsible for planning and delivering engaging, individualised lessons that meet the unique needs of each pupil. You will create a structured, supportive, and purposeful learning environment and work closely with students who display challenging behaviours, applying effective behaviour management strategies and targeted interventions. Success in this role requires flexibility, creativity, and strong collaboration with the wider school team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver lessons tailored to meet a wide range of learning needs.

  • Implement behaviour management strategies in line with school policies to promote positive learning.

  • Maintain clear boundaries while fostering a calm, structured, and supportive classroom environment.

  • Monitor, assess, and evaluate pupil progress using a variety of assessment methods.

  • Adapt teaching approaches to support diverse learning styles and take part in physical activities where appropriate.

  • Promote inclusion and ensure all pupils have equal access to learning opportunities.

  • Actively support and safeguard the wellbeing of all students.

About You
We are seeking a candidate who:

  • Demonstrates empathy, patience, and understanding when working with pupils who present challenging behaviours.

  • Has strong problem-solving skills and the ability to effectively manage and adapt pupil behaviour.

  • Is organised, adaptable, resilient, and physically fit.

  • Brings a positive attitude, a practical sense of humour, and a genuine passion for supporting students with SEN.
