Secondary SEMH Teaching Assistant – Behaviour and Engagement

Location: Sunderland
Pay: £90–£110 per day
Contract: Full-Time, Ongoing
Start Date: As soon as possible

We are recruiting a Secondary SEMH Teaching Assistant to support pupils with emotional and behavioural needs in a structured secondary setting.

This role supports young people who may have struggled in mainstream education and require consistent, understanding support to re-engage with learning.

You will work alongside teachers and pastoral staff to provide emotional, behavioural and learning support throughout the school day.

Key responsibilities:
• Supporting pupils with SEMH needs in lessons
• Helping manage behaviour calmly and consistently
• Supporting engagement with learning and routines
• Working 1:1 and in small groups
• Encouraging emotional regulation and reflection

This role is ideal for someone who:
• Has experience with SEMH or behaviour support
• Is resilient and calm under pressure
• Enjoys working with secondary-aged pupils
• Believes in inclusive, restorative approaches

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
