Science Technician

Secondary school, Newcastle
Start date: 5 January

Love science, organisation, and being the calm, capable person who keeps practical lessons running smoothly? This one’s for you.

We’re working with a welcoming secondary school in Newcastle that’s known for its strong sense of community, clear routines, and genuine pride in its students. It’s the kind of place where staff feel supported, pupils are encouraged to aim high, and science is a subject people actually get excited about.

The science department is well established, well resourced, and led by people who value their technicians just as much as their teachers. You’ll be a key part of the day-to-day magic, making sure experiments are prepped, labs are safe, and lessons run without a hitch.

What you’ll be doing

  • Preparing equipment and materials for practical science lessons

  • Supporting teachers during experiments and demonstrations

  • Maintaining a clean, safe, and organised lab environment

  • Managing stock, ordering resources, and keeping everything ticking along nicely

  • Helping students learn safely and confidently in a hands-on setting

What the school is looking for

  • Experience working as a science technician or in a practical lab environment

  • A good understanding of health and safety in a school or scientific setting

  • Someone organised, reliable, and quietly brilliant behind the scenes

  • A team player who enjoys being part of a busy, purposeful department
