Job Duties:

The Science Technician will be responsible for assisting teachers in preparing and conducting practical science experiments, maintaining laboratory equipment, ordering supplies, ensuring health and safety standards are met, and supporting students during laboratory sessions.

Required Qualifications:

A minimum of a relevant science qualification, such as a BTEC or NVQ in Science, along with strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Education:

Minimum of a relevant science qualification, such as a BTEC or NVQ in Science.

Experience:

Previous experience working in a laboratory setting or as a Science Technician is preferred but not essential.

Knowledge and Skills:

Good understanding of laboratory procedures, health and safety regulations, and basic scientific principles. Strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively with teaching staff and students.

Preferred Qualifications:

Additional certifications in laboratory safety or relevant scientific fields would be advantageous.

Working Conditions:

The Science Technician will primarily work in a laboratory setting within an educational institution. The role may involve some lifting of equipment and exposure to chemicals, requiring adherence to strict health and safety protocols.
