As a Science or Maths Teaching Assistant  at our mainstream secondary school, you will play a vital role in supporting the educational development of Year 10 and Year 11 students. Your primary responsibility will be to provide effective assistance in the areas of mathematics and/or science, ensuring that students receive the necessary support to excel in these subjects.

Responsibilities:

Work closely with classroom teachers to identify the specific needs of Year 10 and Year 11 students in mathematics and/or science.

Provide one-on-one or small group support to students, reinforcing lesson material and addressing any areas of difficulty.

Assist in the preparation of instructional materials and resources for mathematics and science lessons.

Offer guidance and encouragement to students, fostering a positive learning environment conducive to academic success.

Monitor student progress and provide feedback to teachers, identifying areas for improvement and potential interventions.

Collaborate with other teaching assistants and staff members to create comprehensive support plans for individual students, including those with special educational needs.

Maintain accurate records of student attendance, performance, and behavior, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with school policies.

Participate in training sessions and professional development opportunities to enhance your knowledge and skills in supporting students with diverse learning needs.

Requirements:

A passion for education and a genuine desire to support the academic growth of young learners.

Strong proficiency in mathematics and/or science, with the ability to explain complex concepts in a clear and accessible manner.

Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to effectively engage with students, teachers, and parents.

Previous experience working with secondary school students, particularly in a support or teaching assistant role, is highly desirable.

Familiarity with the UK national curriculum and assessment frameworks for mathematics and/or science.

Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude towards working with students of varying abilities and backgrounds.

A proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to adapt quickly to changing circumstances.

Relevant qualifications or training in education, mathematics, or science-related fields are advantageous but not essential.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
