One Child. One Role. One Chance to Make a Big Difference.
This January, we’re looking for someone steady, kind, and quietly confident to support a Reception pupil with autism (ASD) in a lovely Merton primary school. You’ll be their go-to person—helping them navigate the classroom, settle into routines, and build trust with the world around them.
This role is all about connection. You won’t be juggling a class—you’ll be giving one child your full attention and care.
What You’ll Do:
-
Work closely with a Reception child with ASD on a 1:1 basis
-
Help them engage with classroom routines and social interactions
-
Use visual supports and sensory tools to ease transitions and support learning
-
Collaborate with the teacher and SENCO to track progress and adapt strategies
What You’ll Bring:
-
Some experience working with children with autism or SEND
-
A calm, reliable presence—someone who doesn’t flinch when the day gets tricky
-
Good instincts and a big heart—you know when to offer help and when to step back
-
A team spirit and a love for the little wins
Bonus:
If you’re Thrive trained, that’s a huge plus! If not, we’ll help you access our free Thrive training—it’s brilliant for boosting your skills and confidence.
