History Teacher:

A secondary school based in Bristol is looking for a History Teacher to start September 2024.

This role is initially temporary but is very likely to become permanent, and the school will look at both experienced Teachers and Early Career Teachers (ECT’s)

A community school in Bristol, this friendly, relatively small secondary school teaches pupils aged 11 to 16.

Teachers within the school are very well supported and they have a strong programme of CPD for all staff. 

About the role:

You will be teaching History to key stages 3 and 4.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver high-quality History lessons that are engaging, interactive, and differentiated to meet the diverse needs of students.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment where students feel valued, supported, and motivated to participate in historical inquiry and discussion.
  • Use a variety of teaching strategies, resources, and technology to enhance learning and promote historical literacy, critical thinking, and empathy.
  • Assess student progress regularly through formative and summative assessments, providing timely feedback and support for improvement.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement effective schemes of work, resources, and assessment strategies aligned with the school's curriculum and educational goals.
  • Build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues, communicating effectively and working collaboratively to support student success and well-being.

Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent, with experience teaching History at Key Stages 3, 4, and/or 5.
  • Strong subject knowledge and a passion for history, with the ability to inspire and engage students from diverse backgrounds and abilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Innovative and creative approach to teaching, with a commitment to delivering inclusive and differentiated lessons that meet the needs of all learners.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development and a willingness to contribute to the wider life of the school community.

Role: History Teacher

Days: Monday - Friday

Hours: 08:00 - 15:30

Salary: £153-£212 per day (dependant on experience). Equivalent to Teacher Pay scale (M1-M6)

Location: Bristol
