We are seeking an enthusiastic and inspiring Class Teacher to join a highly regarded specialist school in Southend-on-Sea, supporting pupils with severe, moderate and complex learning needs.

Subject Specialism

A specialism in Maths or English would be highly desirable. However, the ability and willingness to teach across a range of subjects is essential to meet the diverse needs of learners within this specialist setting.


About the Role

Previous experience in a special needs setting is not essential. We are looking for teachers who are committed, reflective and motivated to make a genuine difference.

You will:

  • Lead and inspire a curious and effective class team

  • Foster a creative and solution-focused learning environment

  • Deliver high-quality teaching with ambitious expectations for every learner

  • Plan highly individualised learning pathways tailored to each pupil

  • Contribute meaningfully to Annual Reviews and collaborative work with families

  • Listen and respond to the many ‘voices around the learner’ to shape provision

  • Support team development through performance management and training

  • Work alongside Curriculum Leaders to plan, assess and review learning

  • Support quality assurance alongside the Senior Leadership Team

  • Maintain excellent communication and safeguarding practices

  • Track and narrate learner progress and next steps

  • Contribute to the smooth day-to-day running of the school
