Protocol Education are working in close collaboration with a secondary school who wish to appoint a Psychology Teacher to join their outstanding department.

This role is open to experienced teachers and Newly Qualified Teachers (NQTs) to join their supportive and forward-thinking team.

You will be responsible for teaching Key stage 3 and 4, monitoring and evaluating the achievement of students.

As well as to educate the aims of this school is to identify the creativity and spirituality elements of their students whilst building resilience.

In the latest Ofsted rating this school scored Good, maintaining a high level of education.

This secondary school is very well resourced with state-of-the-art facilities, being located at the heart of Newham with outstanding access for public transport and those who drive.

 

Main areas of responsibility:

  • Operational and strategic planning (including lesson planning, developing resources and syllabuses, and contributing to the departmental plan)
  • Curriculum planning & teaching, ensuring a high quality learning experience for students
  • Staff development (including continuing professional development and engaging fully in the Performance Management Review process)
  • Quality assurance (including contributing to the process of monitoring and evaluating the subject area)
  • Management of information (including maintaining appropriate records and tracking student progress)
  • Communications with students, parents and other stakeholders

The successful Psychology Teacher must:

  • Have good written and spoken communication skills
  • Hold QTS (or equivalent) and a relevant undergraduate degree
  • Be able to lead and manage their own work effectively
  • Have a solid understanding of the National Curriculum (theory and practice of effective teaching and learning)
  • Understand the importance of high expectations and equality of access for all students, and of being a tutor
  • Have the ability to work as part of a team and to develop and maintain positive relationships with all staff
  • Good level of ICT skills, ideally including innovative use of interactive white boards
